I think they should lower the drinking age. If you are old enough to serve in the Military, then you should be mature enough to drink responsibly.
What do you think?
Would it cause more you people to drink and drive?

Page,
I was in the Army and was able to drink on base. I don’t think just because you are old enough to serve makes you old enough to drink. If your in the Military then you point is valid. However we did just as much binge drinking as anyone in college if not more!!
Thanks, Tom

The debate over the national drinking age today sounds oddly familiar to the debate during the 1970s, when 18 year old boys could go to war in Vietnam but were not allowed to drink. Those thoughts are mimicked today with the war in Iraq.
During the 70’s, 29 states lowered their drinking age to 18, 19 or 20. However, in the 1980s the debate over drinking centered on drunken drivers. Drunk drivers in the younger categories had SKYROCKETED since the legal drinking age was lowered.
In 1984, the federal government passed a law that tied federal highway funds to raising the drinking age to 21. Sound unfair? Try Washington State’s nickel tax: raising every gallon of gas to a nickel more than the national average to improve roads. (ha!) There are projects all around the state that are completely unnecessary, way too expensive and are a total waste…but I digress.
Fast forward to 1988, almost every state has raised its drinking age to 21…the way it should be.
18 year olds support the legislation to lower drinking age…I would too if I were 18! But as we all know, as we grow older (and wiser) our thoughts and opinions change.
I have 2 children over the age of 21 & two in their teens and I cannot IMAGINE for one second that my 16 and 15 year olds will be even close to the maturity level to drink in 3 years. My two oldest barely are. There are way too many factors with teenage drinking that makes it a really horrible decision to make it legal.
…enough on my rant…I’ve got to get back to work.
thanks for reading!

Being old enough to die for this country but not have a drink is a very poor excuse to lower the drinking age. I’m past the fearless age (18~21) when guys usually join the military. If they had the age to join the military raised upwards of 21 years old, we would have the smallest military in the world. 18 year olds are still immature and do not think about the consequences of their actions, which is why the drinking age is 21–which is still too low, depending on the person. The college kids are binge drinking now more than ever because that particular generation was very shelted and held back from real-world experiences. Honestly, I think the age to get your drivers license should be 18, drinking age should be 23 and if anyone disagrees, they were either very mature for their age, or they’re still too young to realize how stupid they really are.

well i have one small disqgreement with the drinking age being lowered, mature being the word. how can the age of drinking being lowered let youngins gain more maturity that they dont have. its not that maturity would matter at this case its if they would think they would own the place like theyre crap dont stink not in a majority like it is, its just those problem and deemed unfit to an ass crack would over extent theyre welcome if not beyond all the pills it would take to keep everyone from lightening theyre beer, to the point of even looking for a dry county up north which there is no such thing and pretending to sleep walk to the first time in mens lives a nightmare would be the appointed god given hug when youd get to heaven to the idea being so suptuous all that can be done by walking around the parking lot avoiding the collection of scalps hanging on the wall at home from the same type of malinfantards is to pull it out and speak to everyone about jesus. the opinion to set the vote. but i could care
