Break out the Nag Champa! Tomorrow we will have Pearl Jam for a full hour starting at noon. I love Pearl Jam. I like many of the songs on their new cd “Back Spacer.” It has everything you want from Pear Jam. The lyrics make you think. I am looking forward to hearing the interview with Stone Gossard. They will play some live stuff from their 2008 tour. Pearl Jam is doing this hour show tomorrow to benefit Feeding America.

The topic of discussions this morning was video poker. State Sen. Robert Ford of Charleston says he can raise $1 billion in new money for schools and tax breaks by putting a 25 percent tax on video games. Robert Ford is one the Democrats hoping to replace Governor Mark Sanford. Matt and Nine like this idea. They think that people can control their gambling habbits
I think its a bad idea. Video Poker was outlawed in 2000. Why should we bring it back?

Mackenzie Phillips says she had a sexual relationship with her father, John Phillips, a member of the ’60s Mamas and the Papas band. People magazine says Phillips writes in her new book, “High on Arrival,” that she had sex with her father on the night before she was to get married in 1979.
Phillips starred on TV’s “One Day at a Time.” The magazine’s Web site says Phillips writes: “I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.”
We were talking about this book on the morning show.
Matt says that she is just trying to make money off of the book. I think that she is doing it for revenge. Mackenzie is letting people know that her dad did some terrible things to her. She must feel a lot of guilt and shame. To release a book after her fathers death does seem a little exploitive.

It was brought to my attention yesterday that the problem with our Country is that no one is accountable for their our own actions. What are we teaching our children? This discussion stems from the ridiculous behavior from Kanye West at the VMA’s . Folks are still talking about Kanye. Some people say that Kanye should be boycotted from any awards show. Others believe the whole thing was staged. Regardless, bad behavior- is bad behavior. Janet Jackson was held accountable for what she did at a public performance. We are tired of these stunts. I would rather be entertained by the talent of the performers than witness such stupidity. It is not just the people in the entertainment industry that are guilty of having too much self importance. Politicians have forgotten that they were hired by the people to perform a job. We Americans are are sick of the Frat House aptmosphere in Washington. Sex scandals, pranks, and childish behavior. The blameworthiness of our leaders. Who is actually working up there? In fact up in Washington today the House is wasting our tax money. Today our legislators are voting on a resolution on how to scold South Carolina Republican Congressman Joe Wilson for shouting “You lie!” at President Barack Obama. Wilson is refusing to apologize to the House, saying his apology to the White House was enough. Republican leaders are backing him.

We had a woman named Rene on the show this morning who wanted to comfont her husband on radio. The reason
she wanted to comfront him was because she was tired of being called fat all of the time. It seems her husband likes to call her names in public, and in front of their children.
Many of you have called in to support Rene.
Battering someone physically, emotionally, or verbally is cruel.
It causes a toxic environment in the home. Sometimes verbal and emotinal abuse can hurt worse than physical abuse. Far too often the victim internalizes the message.
Abusive Anger: Rene simply asked her husband to stop calling her fat. He blows up. She needs to realizes that the aggressions of her husband belongs to him. She is not responsible for his behavior. He transfers his anger on to her. If you love someone, you don’t make derogatory comments about them in publc. Name calling is never a good thing to do to your wife in front of the children.
Threatening: this is a common thing for an abusive husband to do. Her husband may taunt her and threaten to leave her if she doesn’t lose the weight. He may tell her that he is attractied to other women.
If Rene blames herself for anything that happened this morning I willl feel bad. Nothing was her fault. I truely hope they get some counseling.
We will re-air T & C on Monday.

NEW YORK (AP) - Adoption advocates have united in dismay over
“Orphan,” a horror movie opening next week that they say will
fuel negative attitudes toward real-life orphans.
Some adoption advocates are urging a boycott. A national
coalition is not joining that call but wants a meeting with Warner
Bros. CEO Barry Meyer.
In the movie, a couple decide to adopt a girl from an orphanage.
Their happiness turns to unease and fear as the child turns out
differently from what they expected.
Warner Bros. says it has taken the concerns seriously and has
already removed a particularly controversial line from the trailer.
Spokesoman Scott Rowe says the company is also considering
adding a pro-adoption message at the end of the film when it comes
out on DVD. I have a different opinion about adoption. My cousins were adopted. I don’t think that they are loved any less than the rest of us. I plan to adopt some children. The comments made by Matt this morning. I do not agree with at all. I would hate to think that parents love their adopted children less then there biological children. There are so many children that need good homes and need someone to love them unconditionally.

I have great empathy for Micheal Jackson’s daughter Paris.
I too lost my Daddy. No one can understand how it feels. The pain
is so bad…. you can’t breathe. It is hard for a child to comprehend
the sudden death of a parent. I know all of his family are
overwhelmed with grief.

Bernie Madoff is set to be sentenced next week for one of the biggest fraud-Ponzie case in Wall Street history. His lawyer told the judge this morning that 12 years would be fair. Really, why don’t they ask the people that lost everything about fairness. Dozens of Madoff’s victims have asked the judge to make sure he spends the rest of his life in prison. How much pain and suffering has he caused?
What kind of restitution can he pay back?

Ryan O’neal says he plans to marry Farrah,as soon as she can says yes. Farrah’s has been battling cancer for a couple years. Her health is declining. They have been companions for many years. The couple went on their first date 30 years ago.
It is bitter sweet that at this point in their lives that
they have decided to get married. I hope the best for both of them. It reminds me of the movie “Love Story.”
The Famous line in the movie, “Love means never having to say your sorry.” The movie is considered one of the most romantic movies of all time. This was one of the first movies Ryan did.
